Commitment and intentionality are inadvertently being discouraged by increased opportunities to go on group dates and see members of the opposite sex without pursuit. Another reason people are choosing a life of singleness is because of the difficulty, confusion and frustration that comes with dating. When I had dinner with a married girlfriend in her late 30s, she asked about my current, non-existent dating life. I filled her in on some recent, very confusing behavior from a guy friend that was leaving me wondering if he was interested. As I reflect back on her words, and the things I shared with her that night, I realize a lot of the challenges we face today as singles center around the confusion of intentionality. Unfortunately, I fear the societal and cultural norms are becoming way too comfortable in the Christian dating scene as well. But there are some things we can do as singles to avoid the confusion and frustration caused by singleness.
Intentional christian dating
Break ups are tough enough, I have no desire in a relationship that I know will end in one. Partly because you can spend one on one with with someone of the opposite sex once in a while - just enjoy getting to know another human being.
I always say you can learn something, you can teach something, and you can be Jesus to someone while on a date. If your intention of dating is marriage like I said, figure that out!
The best way to go about that? In person, honestly but not the point of crueltyand quickly.
There is no need to draw out a break up speaking as someone who went through a two month break upand lying to the person over the reason is not helping.
Also hiding behind a text or letter is, quite honestly, lame.
The break up golden rule is the forever golden rule: break up with others as you would want to be broken up with. Those are excuses.
Sometimes the most loving thing you can do for someone is break off an unhealthy relationship. If you enter a relationship with the intention of getting married, does that mean you have to marry that person? Do you think there is a difference between dating with the intent of marriage versus only dating if God has revealed to you that the person will be your future spouse?

Sep 10, In a recent post on Resurgence titled "5 Notes on Dating for the Guys," Mars Hill Church Everett executive pastor Brandon Andersen seeks to help guys think about what it means to be "intentional" when talking to or dating a girl. He lays out seven situations and prescriptively delineates the attitude a guy should have in each one. For the most part, Andersen's piece spoon feeds us.

Guys, if you want to take a girl on a date, use language that make your intentions clear.
Being Intentional in a Romantic Relationship
In fact, I got questioned a lot in high school when all my friends had boyfriends and I did not. As Christians, the way we date should look different than the rest of the world.
Your dating life can be intentional, and you still have no idea if you're going to marry the person - even 6 months in. Your dating life can be intentional and the topic of marriage stays off the table, for a while at least. Your dating life can be intentional as long as you are intentional. Which, really, makes someone a great date to. Unfortunately, I fear the societal and cultural norms are becoming way too comfortable in the Christian dating scene as well. But there are some things we can do as singles to avoid the confusion and frustration caused by singleness. Here are some ways we can be more intentional in our interactions with the opposite sex and cause less confusion. Jun 06, If a godly Christian man is intentional, open, and unafraid to explain his pursuit of a woman, he is also very intentional about marriage. A woman should be just as open. The beauty of intentionality is that it leads to a clearer understanding of each other's motives. Each person in the relationship should be real and honest about their desires.
We should be dating because we are taking the necessary steps toward one day being married. Once given the opportunity to observe their actions and determine if they could be a suitable mate, our actions toward that one person should be different than our actions to other members of the opposite sex.
By treating that person differently, you are letting them know they are special to you. That you value them uniquely and desire to make that known.
Singleness is a wonderful gift we have been blessed with. It allows us the opportunity to pour into the lives of others.
Gives us more time to serve in the community and allows us the time to focus on becoming more like Christ. My prayer is that, as singles, we would be more intentional in our interactions with members of the opposite sex and that we would utilize this season of singleness to leave others better than when we found them. Aug 16, Intentional dating helped me find my soon to be wife! Even though I asked the Lord for forgiveness for having sex before marriage and me and her are abstinent, God has blessed us with a beautiful child that is due in 9 ojasjobz.coms: Apr 10, If so, then you've probably experienced the impact of the "intentional" movement on our Christian culture. Some Christians believe in intentionality so strongly that they feel a man should have an honest conversation with a woman about his interest and intentions before they even go . Dating always involves two people, one of whom is not you. So, besides having a purpose for dating, you also need to let the other person know what your intentions are. The key word here is "intentional," not "intense." Being intentional doesn't mean discussing your upcoming marriage on the first date.
